For 12.6 million children in India, childhood is a burden, an unending
turmoil forcing them to sweat and toil, day in and day out, for a living.
For these destitute children, homes are not sweet as they spend their nights
at bare footpaths, open parks, roads and abandoned places. These are
children who live a life of struggle for survival and are victims of
harassment, assault, abuse and exploitation. They are denied education,
basic health care, adequate nutrition, leisure time and the safety and
security of their homes, families and communities. Their situation is made
worse by the negative attitude of the general public who are insensitive to
their predicament and are least helpful in improving their situation.
At Butterflies we give these
children wings to fly
Butterflies efforts have been
successful in reaching out to a limited number of 1500 street and working
children out of an estimated 1,00,000 living in difficult circumstances. We
empower street and working children by providing them with quality education
and life skill education to equip them for the outside world. We have the
commitment and vision to reach out to many more children and help them mend
their broken wings and increase their confidence so that they can boldly
face the challenges of the world.
In our aspiration to reach out to more and more number of children we look
towards YOU as it is your support and contribution that can make a
difference to their lives and collectively all of us can make a difference
in the lives of millions of children who need care and protection.
