Stories Of Change

We would like to share with you the life of street and working children and the journey they have embarked with the support of Butterflies, to discover their talents and regain respect and dignity which is theirs.

In its 17 years of existence, Butterflies has come across numerous cases of children being harassed abused, neglected, as well as exploited. These are children who are very low in the social hierarchy. They are the powerless, the voiceless, and the exploited. Street and working children come from families that live in chronic poverty and have no access to education, basic health care, adequate nutrition, leisure time and the safety and security of their homes, families and communities. These children fled from hunger and violence at home to seek a better life in the cities only to experience worse forms of violence and betrayal by adults. What is amazing is how these children who survive all adversities are positive and dare to look for a bright future. Every day they struggle to earn a living.

These are stories of little heroes and heroines who struggle for their survival in a harsh and brutal world and yet maintain their dignity, hoping and dreaming of a better tomorrow.
